UK - PBA is pleased to announce that three of its Equity Directors have been promoted to Partners as the Practice strengthens its Transport Planning and Planning areas of the business.
James has worked at PBA for 12 years and as a practitioner in the Transport Planning field for over 25 years. James manages a number of PBA’s key client relationships primarily in the industrial and residential land development sectors.
In his role of Project Director, James fully appreciates the needs of clients from a commercial and delivery perspective and is a skilled exponent of bringing these key drivers of success to the fore when advising across our range of disciplines. His skills lie at the heart of the key aspects of development and infrastructure planning and implementation, most notably from early site identification and feasibility, masterplanning and conceptual design, technical appraisal, T&C planning procedures, through to construction design and implementation.
James leads a successful Transport Planning team in Reading. The team is built upon a long-held PBA partnership ethos, centered around each of our consultants being a personal trusted adviser to our highly valued clients. He said: “I am delighted to be stepping in to the role of Partner at a very exciting time as we embark on what I consider will be an amazing journey for the business over the next 5-6 years. The journey will follow a strategy that will more than ever place our clients at the heart of what we do and it’s one I know that all the Partners are looking forward to sharing with our brilliantly talented project teams.”
With nearly 30 years’ experience as a Planning consultant, working predominantly for the private sector, Jane has an extensive knowledge of the process and a strong development management focus.
In the last 18 months, since joining PBA, Jane has completed a thorough review of the Planning part of the business with a greater focus on providing a service targeted to our clients’ needs.
Jane’s experience covers residential, retail and town centres, regeneration, commercial, aviation, rail freight and logistics. With direct project experience on a number of major infrastructure projects including HS2, Thames Tideway Tunnel and Crossrail she has developed core skills in achieving consent for development through the Development Control Order (DCO) process, Hybrid Bill, as well as the more traditional Town & Country Planning Act route.
Responsible for leading and developing PBA’s Planning teams in the South, Jane said: "The strength of the PBA business is the fact that we have experienced teams who understand the development process from start to finish with a focus on the delivery of development and schemes which make a difference. PBA Planning often provides input throughout that process and the value that understanding offers to our clients is invaluable."
Bernard joined PBA in 2001 and he has amassed almost 20 years of professional planning experience. He has a strong track record of promoting sites through the planning process, achieving allocations and planning permissions for PBA’s private sector clients encompassing developers, housebuilders, landowners, retail operators and a diverse range of other commercial interests.
Bernard also has wide-ranging public sector experience including the production of masterplans and implementation plans, providing planning policy advice and undertaking a wide range of evidence-based studies.
Now leading PBA’s Planning service in the North, Bernard said: "PBA Planning is involved in projects ranging from garden villages to development schemes across the Northern Powerhouse area. I am looking forward to working alongside my planning colleagues, supported by our wider multi-disciplinary offer, to deliver viable development projects and schemes in these key growth locations."
Jane and Bernard are working closely together, and with the rest of the Planning team, to further build PBA’s national planning consultancy, with a strong northern and southern presence, that makes the best use of its core planning services - Development Management, Policy and Evidence, and Economics. This will give PBA clients the advantage of best-in-class planning advice from the start of their projects, and bring PBA’s knowledge and experience to bear in creating value throughout the planning process.
