John joined PBA as a Partner in 2011 following a merger with Bristol-based consultancy Baker Associates, which he co-founded. John is also qualified as an engineer and transport planner, and focuses on spatial and development planning, although he has a particular aptitude and enthusiasm for multi-disciplinary working.
John has more than 35 years of experience delivering consultancy services spanning all aspects of planning work for both public and private clients from all sectors. Along with the promotion of residential schemes through the planning system, he has particular expertise in matters concerning city regions and city edges including urban fringe studies and green belt reviews and development, and in cross-boundary planning arrangements in areas such as Plymouth, the West of England and Cheltenham/Gloucester/Tewkesbury. John works with the Planning Advisory Service supporting planning authorities across the country in putting plans in place to deliver development needs through positive planning.
John is currently involved with the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, where he chairs the Construction and Development Sector Group and is part of a Housing Delivery Group.
