Retail
The retail market can change quickly and a complex mix of engineering and environmental skills is needed to service the sector. Our projects typically range from refurbishment of older out of town retail parks to town centre urban regeneration schemes where the retail component is an important factor in an integrated development. Out of town retail parks in for example Luton and Whiteley, Hampshire, involved significant problems from past industrial use. As retail parks require upgrading and change to suit transport mode shifts projects like the Beehive Centre in Cambridge have required partial demolition and reconstruction or modification to suit a modern tenant mix.
Projects such as the reconstruction of Windsor, King Edward Court shopping centre, exemplify our ability to successfully combine, transport advice, demolition and lead consultancy on car park upgrades, with structural, m&e and infrastructure services. Car parks are an integral feature of our town centres and the need to enhance accessibility is leading to more retail focused projects which start as a car park upgrade, for example St Helens and Bolton town centres.
