Waste Management
We service the traditional landfill sector as well as the more sustainable and innovative areas of recycling, gasification, composting, MBT, and ecoparks. Our projects range from regional strategy, planning, PPC and licensing, EIA's, due diligence and public inquiries through detailed design of MRF's, landfills, infrastructure and rail/sea terminals to closure, demolition and health/safety.
We provide monodisciplinary input (e.g. for HRA's, FRA's, noise surveys, SI, bio-aerosol and odour assessments) as well as multidisciplinary packages. Recent R&D includes: relative impacts of transport emissions in recycling (NSCA), movement of waste by barge (TfL), and the impact of karst on contamination risk (EA). One USP is our enhanced DEFRA database of natural and man-made cavities which is widely used to assess the impact of karst and mining on contaminant movement (as well as building subsidence).
