Lewisham Gateway in south-east London is being innovatively remodelled to address transport challenges and create a valuable site, with a million square feet of mixed-use development.

Our environmental planners managed a pragmatic scoping process to ensure a focused EIA, and designed interdisciplinary solutions to manage risks while enhancing the development, such as river works that managed flood risk, delivered ecological enhancement and provided an attractive setting for a new area of open space.
With a major roundabout removed to create direct pedestrian access between the town centre, residential areas and public transport, the site will be transformed with new public spaces and a riverside park.

To highlight one in South East London, their involvement from inception of the master plan has been so beneficial. Unlocking a host of seemingly insurmountable issues involving moving two rivers and removing a complex highway gyratory has enabled the creation of a development plot that previously didn’t exist. Buildings are now being constructed on that land plot to extend a town centre. It has taken the coordinated work of several specialist teams within the PBA national team to achieve that.
