Providing incorporated thinking and a holistic perspective to maximise integration and connectivity

A development and its surrounding environment define each other’s character by the number and level of connections they make. Our sustainable transport planning is not only bringing value to this new project by linking it to the wider development area but also by acting as a catalyst for regeneration.

Located near the city of Wolverhampton, this new mixed-use residential and commercial scheme will utilise large areas of brownfield land that was once the site of a Royal Ordnance factory. Peter Brett Associates LLP (PBA) provided incorporated thinking and a holistic perspective to maximise the site’s integration and connectivity.

The plan includes a proposed major new rail station with Park and Ride facilities for the busiest mixed traffic railway route in the UK, the West Coast Mainline, which runs through the development. Featherstone, the existing community, is adjacent to this site.

We produced a sustainable transport scheme that integrated the development into both the existing community and the national rail network. Our economic and financial appraisal formed the cornerstone for the development of support and funding for the proposed station. Our transport strategy lays the foundation for the integration of new homes and jobs through rail and bus access, which will also enhance accessibility for Featherstone.
