Great Haddon, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, UK
Picturing a sustainable future
Great Haddon is proposed to be a southern extension of Peterborough and will consist of up to 6,000 dwellings, employment uses, schools, retail and leisure uses. Providing a wide range of services we are supporting the planning process using our unique sustainability toolkit.
The development will employ rainwater capture, recycle and re-use many of the community’s ‘waste’ products, and has the potential to include the construction of a facility which will generate energy from waste. A Park and Ride scheme to deal with commuter traffic from the A1, as well as provide a fast, direct and convenient service for residents will act as an integral part of the transport strategy for the site and service the community of Peterborough. The combination of numerous elements will make the project a model of sustainable development.
Using Equilibrium, our sustainability toolkit, we were able to produce a matrix of issues, ranking solutions from a sustainability perspective. This matrix was translated into an interactive development plan which has proved invaluable to our clients and stakeholders by graphically representing the sustainable development.
