Kings Hill Development, West Malling, Kent, UK
We can provide a solution
Long-term, large scale schemes can be negatively affected by changing market trends and shifting government policies, risking their potential future, but we can provide a solution. Our close liaison with local planning and highway authorities has ensured that the Kings Hill development is still relevant nearly 20 years after it was first envisioned.
Kings Hill is a 260ha development located at the site of the former WWII West Malling Air Station. The current masterplan comprises approximately 2,000,000sq ft of B1 commercial development and over 2,500 homes. The original concept for development incorporated a flexible primary infrastructure layout that has allowed the quantity of commercial and residential development to shift with market demands. Kings Hill has become more attractive to residential developers due to it retaining value regardless of economic conditions. It is now 50% completed with the remaining land open for sale and plot development. Additional land has recently been acquired to provide enhanced leisure facilities.
Having completed the primary infrastructure design, we are currently acting as option engineering consultants. Our long-term relationship with the local planning and highway authorities puts us in a position to work directly with, and gauge the opinion of, these authorities on the viability of new schemes.
