M4 Junction 11,
Reading, Berkshire, UK
Our tenacious approach realising client aspirations
The Reading area has experienced a boom in new businesses and developments. As the main portal into Reading, M4 J11 requires significant enhancements to cope with increased traffic demand to ensure that economic expansion is not restricted. Peter Brett Associates LLP (PBA) are facilitating the relationships between local authorities, agencies and the public and private sector stakeholders involved in the project.
Tackling a project of this scale is already difficult but to complicate issues the junction is under the jurisdiction of several Local Authorities as well as the Highways Agency. The public and private sectors are working in partnership on promoting the scheme which adds another group of stakeholders to the project.
Acting as a facilitator for these various groups, we coordinated and managed the project while negotiating various shifts in government policy, political control and funding regimes. Scheme approval hit several barriers from central government requiring multiple reworks and submissions. After years of work, the scheme for the enhancement of junction eleven not only received approval from both the public and government but gained Department of Transport funding for the vast majority of the overall cost.
Our dedication to ensuring that the project continued was paramount to its success.
