Minerals

With increasingly tighter controls on the mining and minerals industry, satisfying the needs of society with that of safeguarding the environment can often be a difficult balance to achieve. The need to maximise the benefits of proposals to secure planning permission while minimising the impacts of mineral development requires careful consideration so that conflicting interests are satisfactorily accommodated. Sites in the right location also have the potential for high value after use, such as housing, retail, commercial and industrial. Sterilisation issues need to be considered as well as extraction and subsequent waste management or redevelopment scenarios.

Our services range from due diligence and expert witness, through mineral resource evaluation, planning and Environmental Impact Assessments, to rail, wharf and deep berth design. Our mineral, waste management and regeneration services are interlinked to give a whole life perspective. We have developed some of the largest projects within the UK in active and abandoned quarries, including Hampton, Peterborough and Eastern Quarry, Kent.
