Environmental impact assessment (EIA)

Environmental impact assessment (EIA)

We take a collaborative approach to environmental assessment which ensures integrated advice that manages key risks and issues and addresses stakeholder concerns, engendering support and leading to better commercial and environmental outcomes.

Our extensive experience of the environmental impact assessment process across the development and infrastructure sectors includes some of the country’s most significant energy and infrastructure projects, several of the most complex regeneration schemes and numerous major land development projects.

Our team has the experience, knowledge and skill required to manage and resolve conflicting environmental issues through working closely with our technical teams that specialise in acoustics and air quality, ecology, energy, flood risk assessment, contaminated land, landscape assessment and waste management.

Our services include:

Environment Impact Assessment (EIA): our environmental team works closely with clients, our planning and design team, and stakeholders to understand the environmental constraints and opportunities associated with a project in order to inform the scheme design and the planning strategy, and to deliver a sustainable and cost-effective outcome. Through careful screening and rigorous scoping, we manage risk and agree the critical assessment parameters needed to ensure a robust assessment process.

Health Impact Assessment: our team helps projects to deliver better health and wellbeing outcomes that meet the needs of local communities, communicating with stakeholders, including local authorities who now have responsibility for public health.

Strategic Environmental Assessment: our specialist team works collaboratively with our technical experts to ensure all necessary environmental considerations guide the development of Programmes and Policies.

Habitat Regulations Assessment: our team undertakes rigorous assessment of Plans and Projects where European Protected Sites may be affected. These are completed having regard to best practice and recent legal precedent.

Where appropriate these core environmental assessment services are complemented by additional assessments in lighting, flood risk, BREEAM and sustainability. Our ongoing excellence in environmental assessment is recognised by the Institute of Environmental Management of Assessment through our EIA Quality Mark.
