Ground engineering / geotechnics

Ground engineering / geotechnics

Site conditions rarely follow a standard format. At PBA, we evaluate the potential performance and stability of ground, groundwater and contamination conditions, which range from the benign to the hazardous. We then provide our clients with pragmatic, sustainable geotechnical, geoenvironmental and hydrogeological guidance that is focused on:

Reducing and reusing: earthworks are often unpredictable, high risk, and can incur high costs. We minimise the costs of offsite disposal and avoid importing materials where possible by sustainably reusing existing ones. We have considerable success in reusing marginal materials while maintaining performance.

A comprehensive approach: in addition to traditional geotechnical assessments that provide buildings and structures with stable spread or piled foundations, we also embrace innovative techniques to reduce development cost through ground improvement, including dynamic compaction, soil improvement and stabilisation, band drains and the use of geosynthetics for soil reinforcement.

Extensive experience: we provide a holistic approach in the assessment and remediation of contaminated land, and we understand what is required at each step of the commercial process. From the due diligence stage through to the built environment, we provide commercially focussed and easily understood advice.
