PBA plays a pivotal role in the regeneration of Birmingham City Centre, and has, most recently, prepared a transport assessment to support the application for the redevelopment of Beneficial House for hotel and commercial use.
Beneficial House is a vacant building in central Birmingham, adjacent to the current Paradise Circus development and Metro extension. PBA was appointed to provide transport planning and highway advice to secure planning permission for a boutique hotel with 130 rooms and commercial use.
The completed development will provide the conversion of the existing upper floors of the building from office space to a 130-bedroom hotel, the refurbishment of the existing commercial/retail uses on the ground and basement level, a new off-street loading bay and service lift in the south corner, and a reconfigured layby on the western side to accommodate both bus and taxi use.
PBA prepared the Transport Statement to support the planning application for the redevelopment. Our work included reviewing servicing and access arrangements, improved laybys at the hotel's frontage to upgrade the bus and taxi drop-off, and the need for loading bays and a service lift.
