Church Street is one of the most vibrant communities in Westminster with a strong sense of community cohesion.
Westminster City Council (WCC)‘s brief was to to create a masterplan that will build on the area’s existing character to support growth and inclusion: to create a community for all.
WCC appointed our PBA-led multidisciplinary team in 2016 to bring creative insight, rooted in analytical rigour and strong communications skills to support their vision for the area. A critical issue for WCC was to create local economic activity and ensure greater connectivity to opportunities in Central London. The masterplan proposes a community and housing programme capable of meeting current and future needs of residents and businesses.
We are committed to enabling better neighbourhoods with new and high-quality housing, supported by the right infrastructure with an intention to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents. The masterplan, which will guide development for the next 15-20 years is transformative, brings inclusive growth and the right kind of development to the heart of the capital.
The masterplan was adopted by WCC in December 2017, following extensive public consultation. As well as being the lead consultant on this commission, PBA has also provided planning, transport, socio-economics, engineering and environmental consultancy services. The masterplan was shortlisted for the 2018 Planning Award.
